Gunmen in Greece Attack Policemen
Greek gunmen attacked a police unit Monday, seriously injuring a policeman in the latest sign of surging extremism after the police shooting of a teenage boy last month.
Authorities in Athens said at least two masked gunmen sprayed the police unit with more than 20 bullets from an assault rifle, seriously injuring a 21-year-old officer while he was guarding the Culture Ministry in central Athens. None of 20 other officers on a police bus stationed near the ministry was injured in the attack. (NY Times)
