China confirms girl infected with bird flu

A 2-year-old girl in northern China has tested positive for bird flu, the World Health Organization said Sunday. It is China’s second confirmed case of the virus this month. The girl fell ill on January 7 in the central Hunan province and was taken to her home province of Shanxi in northern China, the state-run news agency Xinhua said.

The report did not say how the girl became infected. (CNN)
